April 2001:
Community IPM features in BBC Documentary

In January and February of this year, the FAO Community IPM Programme collaborated in the filming of Toxic Trail, a documentary which will broadcast in two parts on BBC World in April.

The documentary starts in Thailand and follows the flow of pesticides into Cambodia where they are posing a serious threat to human health and the environment.  The documentary also looks at how farmers are learning about ecology and discovering how to produce crops with less pesticides, often eliminating these toxic chemicals altogether.

The programme was made by the Television Trust for the Environment (TVE), a major producer of films about the environment, development, health and human rights. The documentary will be broadcast globally as part of the 'Earth Report' series on BBC.

Further information is available at ToxicTrail.org, a website which has additional information about the documentary, including broadcast times and fact-sheets.
